100 CBG plants to be set up in UP in future: Hardeep Singh Puri

Gorakhpur, March 8 (UNI) Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Friday said that 100 Compress Biogas (CBG) plants will be set up in Uttar Pradesh in the coming months.
He described the setting up of CBG plants as a significant step towards environmental conservation, increasing farmers' income and achieving energy self-reliance.
Speaking during the inauguration of CBG plant set up by Indian Oil in Duriapar here, the Union Minister said that IOC has invested Rs 165 crore in setting up one such plant. "In this plant, 200 metric tons of agricultural residue (paddy straw), 20 metric tons of press mud and 10 metric tons of cattle dung will be used daily," he said.
The Minister highlighted that the plant is expected to produce approximately 20 metric tons of biogas and 125 metric tons of organic fertiliser per day, contributing to agricultural productivity enhancement.
Expressing satisfaction with the Green Hydrogen policy introduced by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for environmental preservation, Puri said that there will be a rapid investment in this sector. He also announced plans to build a green hydrogen plant in his adopted district Sonbhadra.
Commending Yogi's leadership, he said that under his guidance, UP is progressing towards becoming a trillion-dollar economy.
He emphasised that UP's progress will significantly contribute to achieving the nation's goal of becoming a five-trillion-dollar economy.
