Media's cooperation necessary in voter awareness programmes: Election officer Amarjeet

Hamirpur (HP), Mar 13 (UNI) Deputy Commissioner cum District Election Officer Amarjeet Singh said the voter awareness programme 'Sweep' of the Election Commission of India and the cooperation of print and electronic media are also very important in increasing the participation of voters in the election process.
While presiding over a workshop organised for mediapersons at Hamir Bhawan here Wednesday, the District Election Officer said the democratic system gets strengthened only with greater participation of voters in the election process.
The Deputy Commissioner said this time the Election Commission of India has given the slogan for the Lok Sabha elections, 'Festival of elections, pride of the country'. He said youth who complete 18 years of age on April 1st can also get their names registered in the voter lists.
