UP: Five policemen booked after youth dies in custody

Gorakhpur (UP), Mar 21 (UNI) A case was lodged against five policemen, including a Station House Officer (SHO), after a youth died during police custody in Gola area of Gorakhpur district here in Uttar Pradesh, police sources said on Thursday.
Police sources said that Vinay Kumar Pandey (37), a resident of Badha Bujurg village, was brought to the police station on charges of molesting a minor girl on Friday evening. "At police station Vinay's health deteriorated after which he was taken to the community health centre where doctors declared him dead," they said.
CHC superintendent Dr AN Thakur said that the youth died before being brought to the facility. "The clear cause of death cannot be stated and only the postmortem report will reveal the cause of death," he said.
