UP: Prayagraj SSP suspended

Lucknow, Sep 8 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday suspended Prayagraj's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhishek Dixit on charges of indulging in corruption and being lax in maintaining law and order in the district.
Home department spokesperson on Tuesday said that taking strict action, CM Yogi Adityanath suspended SSP Abhishek Dixit for failing to control crime in the district, showing laxity in maintaining law and order and indulging in corruption.
During the period of suspension, the IPS officer will be attached to the office of the Director General of Police. Mr Dixit has been accused of irregularities and not following the government directions properly during his tenure as the SSP of Prayagraj. The police officer has also been accused of promoting corruption while giving out postings.
