Jalandhar MP visits villages situated near Sutlej river, asks people to stay vigilant

Phillaur, Aug 19 (UNI) Jalandhar MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary on Sunday visited sensitive villages of Phillaur Assembly constituency such as Chhole Bazaar, Mau Sahib, Gandhi Dham, Jhandi Peer and Kadiana near the Sutlej river to take stock of the situation arising out of the release of excess water from Bhakra dam.
With water being released continuously from the dam after heavy rains filled its reservoir, Punjab government has sounded an alert and asked the administration to take all the measures to deal with the situation.
Accompanied by Punjab Congress General Secretary Vikramjit Singh Chaudhary, Jalandhar ADC Jasbir Singh, Phillaur SDM Rajesh Sharma and Tehsildar Tapan Bhanot, the Jalandhar MP inspected the water level in the river and surrounding areas. They met several residents and took their feedback on the situation.

Srinagar, April 26 (UNI) Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti on Friday wrote to the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding the proposed delay for the Anantnag - Rajouri Lok Sabha seat, saying any attempt to delay it will result in denying a level playing field to all the parties.
