UPSTF to acquire AI-based technology to track criminals

Lucknow, July 5 (UNI) The Special Task Force of Uttar Pradesh has initiated the process of acquiring the Artificial Intelligence-based Criminal Data Creation and Retrieval System, which will enable the force to have the complete profiles of criminals with just one click, an official spokesman said here on Wednesday.
The spokesman said that the aim of the STF behind this is to enhance action against crimes and criminals in the state. "The UP government has allocated a budget to further strengthen the STF during a recent review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath," he said.
He said that working on CM Yogi's zero-tolerance policy against crime, the STF plans to establish the Artificial Intelligence-based Criminal Data Creation and Retrieval System at a cost of Rs 3 crore, for which tenders have already been issued and four companies have also shown keen interest in installing it in the state. "The new AI-based system will help identify criminals by providing tools for matching face, voice, and method of crime," he said.
