Six booked for embezzlement in UP

Gonda, Feb 27 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh Police on Thursday registered a case against six people for siphoning off Rs 40 lakh from Shishamau branch of State Bank of India, falling under Colonelganj Kotwali area of this district.
According to a police spokesperson, Field Officer at the Bank, Ankur Chaudhary, had provided a loan of Rs 40 lakh in installments to several people, in a fraudulent manner.
Following the death of Ankur, when the matter was disclosed, Branch Manager Sanjeev Khanna registered a complaint against Zameer Alam, Proprietor of Meena Traders Firm in Dinari village; Umesh Tiwari; Anita; Awadhesh; Amrendra and Shiv Bahadur for embezzlement.
Further investigation was underway, they added.
