Retired IPS shoots self, commits suicide

Lucknow, June 6 (UNI) A retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer shot himself with his licenced revolver and committed suicide at his Gomti Nagar residence here in the state capital Lucknow on Tuesday, police sources said here.
Police sources said that a 1975-batch IPS officer Dinesh Kumar Sharma (73), who retired as Director General of Police (DGP), shot himself with his licenced revolver at his Vishal Khand residence in Gomti Nagar area in the morning. "Sharma's family members rushed to his room after hearing the gunshot and found him lying in the pool of blood," they said.
Police sources said that the former IPS was rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. "A suicide note has been recovered from the spot in which he has written he was committing suicide as he cannot bear anxiety, disorder and depression no longer and was loosing strength and health," they said.
Police sources said that Sharma had mentioned that no one was responsible for his suicide. "Sharma used to live with his wife and two children. He was ill for a long time and was being treated at a hospital in Lucknow," they said.
