Abstention of IUML leader from debate on Muthalaq Bill stirs controversy

Kozhikode, Dec 28 (UNI) The abstention of senior Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) leader and MP, P K Kunhalikutty from the debate in the Lok Sabha on Thursday as part of the tabling of Muthalaq Bill, has kicked off a political debate.
The row over absence of Mr Kunhalikutty, the National General Secretary IUML, in the Parliament had been criticised by the Left parties and a section of the Muslim organisations like the Samastha, a strong religious faction supporting the party.
The Muslim league leader was in Malappuram on that day to attend a marriage function when the bill was discussed in the Parliament.
