YEAR ENDER CHHATTISGARH FOUR LAST RAIPUR

Patthargarhi Andolan in Sarguja division bordering Jharkhand was one of prominent movements in state this year as it had given sleepless nights to government and police. The movement began from a village in Jashpur district. Agitating people perforated stone with inscription about their own Constitution in the village. Action of police and administration to break the stone triggered strong protest against people. Police arrested former IAS among many others involved in movement and successfully nipped the movement in the bud.
Moreover, the tragedy of gas leak in Bhilai Steel Plant of Steel Authority of India Limited has convulsed the entire state in deep shock. About 12 workers were charred to death while more than 10 others were critically injured in mishap which occurred on October 9. It was difficult to identify the bodies as they were charred completely. After identification through DNA, the bodies were handed over to their families.
On October 14, ten people were killed when their SUV vehicle while returning from Bambleshwari Mandir, Dongargarh hit a truck.
