Wrestler Babita Phogat resigns from govt job to take part in active politics

Chandigarh, Oct 7 (UNI) International wrestler Babita Phogat resigned from the post of Deputy Director in the Haryana Sports Department in order to take part in active politics.
Babita has decided to campaign for the BJP in the Baroda assembly bypoll and in the Bihar assembly elections. In 2019 Haryana assembly elections, she had contested and lost as a BJP candidate from Dadri segment.
Babita Phogat along with kabaddi player Kavita Devi were appointed deputy directors in the sports department on July 30 this year.
Wrestler Geeta Phogat, elder sister of Babita, is a DSP in Haryana Police.
On August 13, 2019, Babita had resigned from the post of police sub-inspector, a day after joining the BJP with her father Mahavir Singh Phogat, a Droncahraya award winner.
Actor Aamir Khan had made movie 'Dangal' on the life of Phogat sisters - Babita and Geeta - and their father Mahavir Phogat.
