Women Wall is aimed at protecting and ensuring equal rights for women: Kerala CM

Kannur, Dec 29 (UNI) Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Saturday said that the proposed 'All-Women-Wall' is aimed at protecting and ensuring equal rights of women in the society, by constructing a wall, by themselves.
Responding to the ten-point query raised by the Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala on women-wall, including its objective, the Chief Minister said it was unfortunate that Mr Chennithala is unaware of its objective. Attempts are active in the State to demolish the renaissance values since for sometime and the wall is a guard against such evils.
Addressing a public meeting in Parapram in Pinarayi near Thalasserry, the birth place of Communist party in Kerala, Mr Vijayan said women in Kerala have always been facing challenges from the society and were oppressed by men. But, they are coming out to respond and resist against these aberrations.
To a question of the opposition leader as to why men are kept away in the wall, Mr.Vijayan said men would also parade alongside the women wall symbolising their solidarity to the womens' cause.
Not only Hindu women but women from other religions have also shown keen interest in joining the women wall. Women residing outside Kerala are also gathering to express their solidarity to the wall.
Refuting allegations of collection of funds from pensioners, he said the matter would be investigated. "Neither any government fund is utilised for organising the "Vanitha Mathil", nor any senior official were forcing any of their subordinates to take part in the human wall," he added.
