Lucknow, Apr 14 (UNI) Samajwadi Party (SP) on Sunday released a list of seven candidates, including former Minister Babu Singh Kushwaha, for the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh.
The party has fielded Kushwaha from the Jaunpur seat against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) nominee Kripa Shanker Singh. It may be noted that Babu Singh Kushwaha was a cabinet minister in the Mayawati government and was considered a close confidant of the party chief.
Kushwaha later had differences with Mayawati and was expelled from BSP. He was sent to jail for his alleged involvement in the National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam. After being expelled from BSP, he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for a brief period before the saffron brigade distanced itself after controversy.
