UP procures 53.3L MT of paddy from 8 lakh ryots

Lucknow, Jan 19 (UNI) Despite a surge in Covid-19 cases, the Uttar Pradesh government has so far bought total paddy worth more than Rs 10,000 Crore benefitting more than 8.40 lakh farmers in the state following Covid safety protocols.
Paddy procurement is progressing smoothly in the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2021-22 from farmers, at MSP like it was done in the previous years.
According to Commissioner, Food and Civil Supplies, Sorabh Babu here in a statement on Wednesday , “As on January 19, around 53.321 lakh metric tonnes of paddy worth more than Rs 10002.21 crore has been purchased from the farmers, and the payment is being made within 72 hours of the purchase directly to their bank accounts.”
