UP: Millions take dip in holy rivers on Kartik Purnima

Varanasi/Ayodhya, Nov 12(UNI)Amid tight security arrangements, millions of devotees took a dip in the holy rivers and offered prayers at the temples on the occasion of the Kartik Purnima on Tuesday.

State government has make elaborate security arrangements for the security of the pilgrims in Varanasi, Ayodhya, Prayagraj and other places in view of the Ayodhya verdict.

A report from Varanasi said more than 2 lakh people took a dip in the Ganga on Tuesday before offering prayers at Kashi Viswanath and other temples in the city.
Later, in the evening, on the occasion of Dev Deepawali, around 11 lakh diyas would be lit on the banks of the Ganga and the ghats.
Similarly, another report from Ayodhya said that people are taking dip in the Saryu river since late last night and thousands of devotees have worshiped at the Ram Lalla temple at the Ramjanmabhoomi.

Elaborate security is in place in Ayodhya and at the ghats during the occasion. In the evening too, lakhs of diyas would be lit on the banks of Saryu.

In Prayagraj too, lakhs of people bathed at Triveni Sangam. Similar reports were also received from Garhmukteshwar, Kanpur, Vindyachal and other places.
