UP govt goes for agricultural marketing reforms: Frees 46 fruit, vegetable from Mandi fee

Lucknow May 6 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government, in a major agriculture marketing reform for eliminating the multi-layer of middlemen and promoting the 'farm to fork' initiative, denotified 46 fruits and vegetables from the provisions of the UP Agriculture Marketing Committee Act (APMC).

The amendment will enable the farmers to sell the produce, which are mostly cash crops, directly to the consumers and traders outside the Mandi yard without paying the Mandi fee. The farmers can now sell the 46 commodities directly to the food processing units, consumers at the farm itself. The farmers can also sell their produce through the digital platform- e NAM.

Shimla, Oct 4 (UNI) Commissioner State Taxes and Excise, Dr. Yunus informed here today that on the basis of tip off received, the enforcement team Una has succeeded in seizing jewellery worth Rs. 4,64,42,227 from the house of a silver jewellery merchant
The jewellery was without bills or documents and the department has collected a penalty of Rs. 15,32,594 under the GST Act, he added.
