Shimla, Jul 14 (UNI) At least two persons, including an Army jawan, were killed and 22 injured when a multi-storey building collapsed in heavy rain in Solan on Sunday evening.
The injured people have been admitted to nearby hospitals.
Twentyseven people - 17 Army jawans and 10 civilians - were rescued.
The teams of the district administration and 25 jawan of NDRF along with doctors and ambulances rushed to the spot immediately on receiving information about the incident.
Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur expressed grief over the incident.
In his condolence message, the Governor prayed to the Almighty to give peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this irreparable loss and wished speedy recovery to the injured.
Expressing grief over the accident, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said that he was saddened to hear about the loss of precious lives in this tragic incident. He has conveyed his deepest sympathies to the bereaved families and prayed for eternal peace to the departed souls. He also wished speedy recovery to those injured in the incident.
The Chief Minister has ordered inquiry into the incident and also directed authorities to provide best medical facilities to the injured.
He assured that remaining persons would be rescued soon.
