TN Guv congratulates Nethra for being appointed as Goodwill Ambassador for UNADAP

Chennai, Jun 6 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Saturday congratulated M Nethra, for being appointed as the "Goodwill Ambassador to the Poor" for United Nations Association for Development And Peace (UNADAP) under the civil society projects.
"It is a proud moment for Tamil Nadu that UNADAP appointed Nethra, daughter of C Mohan, a salon owner in Madurai, as its Goodwill Ambassador to the Poor'', Mr.Purohit said in a Statement.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his monthly radio programme "Maan Ki Baat" has praised Mohan, father of Nethra for spending his entire savings to help people in distress during this Coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdowns.
Mr Purohit said Mr.Mohan, who is the owner of a small salon saved Rs five lakh over a period for his daughter's education. When he and his daughter saw the sufferings of the people due to COVID-19 lockdown, they immediately came forward to help the people in distress by spending their entire savings.
It's great yeomen service. I am touched by this great gesture of his family and I wholeheartedly appreciate the nobleness of hearts of duo father and daughter. Only large-hearted person like Mr Mohan can do so, he said.
Nethra may get an opportunity to address upcoming United Nations conferences in New York and Geneva and to speak to Civil Society forums, world leaders from various fields. It is highly appreciable.
I appeal to all the student community to come forward and follow the activities rendered by Nethra to the society in this pandemic situation.
Mr Mohan and his daughter have become role models for others to emulate in any crisis situation. India and Tamil Nadu needs leaders from the society, the Governor added.
