Hyderabad, Mar 23 (UNI) Telangana Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Tuesday informed the Assembly that during the first phase, the state government has distributed 3,66,976 Sheep units consisting of 38-40 lakhs Sheep to the beneficiaries (Golla Kurma community) so far.
Replying to questions raised by the members in the House during the question hour, the Minister said that to boost rural economy and to promote Sheep rearing in a big way in the state, the government has decided to distribute sheep on subsidy.
He said so far 3,66, 976 Sheep units were distributed during the first phase by spending Rs 5587.20 crore. The Sheep population grew in the state from 1.2 crore to 3 crore now with the value of Rs 5490 crore.
