Suspecting honor killing takes place in AP

Chittoor, Oct 13 (UNI) A suspecting honor killing has been taken place at Reddy Palli Village in Santhipuram mandal in this district on late night of Saturday, wherein the police have been suspecting that the deceased would be murdered by her parents for married a boy belonged to Scheduled Cast (SC) community.

According to Chittoor Superintendent of Police Senthil Kumar, the Kuppam rural police have entered into Reddy Palli Village on Sunday morning based on the complaint given by the parents of the minor boy who married the minor girl of BC community alleging honor killing took place and the police came to know from parents of deceased that she hanged herself to the roof of house just after one day of getting married with her lover who belonged to SC community.

The parents of deceased, Venkatesh and Ramanamma, cremated their daughter’s body without informing to the police and mixed the ashes into nearby village tank saying that it was their community custom.

The police who suspecting the story explained by deceased’s parents and villagers have been registered a case against the parents of deceased for not informing to the police about their daughter’s suicide.

The minor boy belonged to SC caste of Vaddu Madi Village of Santhipuram mandal who married the girl said they had been in love for more than two years and they got married on Friday(11-10-19) after her parents refused to their marriage.

The village elders of Reddy Palli Village decided to send back both of them , bride and bride groom, to their native villages after mediation in Kuppam on Saturday.

On Sunday morning, the boy who married her learnt that she committed suicide in her house in the village and lodged a complaint along with elders of his community with Kuppam police on the same day.

The police also suspecting that it would be a honor killing as the parents of deceased did not inform to the police if it was a suicide and filed a complaint against them.

The SP said the fact whether it was honor killing or suicide would come out in their investigation soon.

However, it would be the third honor killing in the district after Usarapenta of Palamener constituency incident happened in last June and Madanapalli incident happened in 2016.
