Storm claims five lives in UP, govt provides instant relief

Lucknow, Apr 22 (UNI) As five people lost their lives in the unseasonal rains and dust storm which struck the State late Wednesday night, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed district magistrates to provide immediate relief to people affected by the calamity.
In a statement released on Thursday, Yogi Adityanath asked officials to immediately provide financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of those who lost their lives. The Chief Minister also directed the district magistrates to assess the damage on a priority basis and disburse compensation without delay. He warned officials against any laxity with regards to relief work.
Unseasonal rains and hailstorms in Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night claimed five lives besides leading to large scale damage to the crops in several districts especially in Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Many temporary houses were also damaged due to the heavy dust storm. The rains, however, gave much needed relief to people from rising mercury.
