Six drug peddlers arrested, Rs 2.26 lakh cash, charas recovered in Kashmir

Srinagar, Jan 28 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police arrested six drug peddlers and recovered cash worth over Rs 2.26 lakh, charas and illicit liquor in the Kashmir valley, a police spokesman said Thursday evening.
He said police established a checkpoint at Vessu Chowk during which two vehicles a local car and a Punjab truck with five persons on board were intercepted. They have been identified as Imtiyaz Ahmad Bhat resident of Naina Batapora, Angez Singh resident of Oochra Ramban, Lalchand resident of Shamchurasi Hoshiyarpur, Ghulam Mohammad Lone resident of Wupzan Bijebhara and Salim Mohammad resident of Marelkotla.
During checking of the vehicles police recovered 2Kg of Charas, 30 Kg of Poppy Straw, 13 bottles of illicit liquor and cash of Rs 1,61,450 from their possession. However, one of the accused Ghulam Mohammadd Lone managed to escape from the spot and efforts are on to effect his arrest.
