Relief from heatwave due to rain in Phagwara

Phagwara, May 29(UNI) Hailstorm followed by downpour lashed the Phagwara town and its surroundings on Friday afternoon.
Though the people heaved a sigh of relief from extensive heat due to rain followed by hailstorm but the vehicular traffic and power supply in the region were badly hit. complaints of voltage fluctuations were also received from several parts of the region.

Hundreds of trees were found uprooted on Phagwara--Hoshiarpur road and Phagwara--Nakodar Road disrupting road traffic badly.

The electronic goods including one inverter, LCD, fridge worth around Rs 1.5 lakh were damaged when a high tension wire touched with the roof of the house of Hari Om Sharma in New Green Model Town due to high-velocity thunderstorm on Thursday evening.
