Proxy war thrust upon India by Pak has not ended: J&K DGP

Srinagar, Nov 20 (UNI) Asserting that the proxy war thrust upon India by Pakistan has not come to an end, J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh said all security force agencies, including the UT police, are continuously fighting it for the security and integrity of the nation.

He said Pakistan is in no way a friend of the people of Jammu and Kashmir as it has continuously brought death and destruction on the people and disrupted peace and order here.

'Officers and jawans should continue to foil the wicked acts/designs of the elements inimical to the peace and prosperity of Jammu and Kashmir,' he said.

Mr Singh said that during the previous years, particularly in 2010 and 2016, J&K police faced a tough situation on law and order front. 'This time around, the force has worked with extreme professionalism in maintaining the law and order in Jammu and Kashmir,' the DGP added.

He stressed that the subversion and militancy are to be uprooted so that the general masses could live in a peaceful atmosphere which is his priority.

The DGP impressed upon the officers to take the drive against drugs as a mission till the menace is completely uprooted from the society. He said that the police is strengthening its bonds with the people who are supporting the force in our fight against the drugs.

Since last 30 years, he said, there were many ups and downs in the security situation but the police personnel along with other security agencies have taken up these challenges bravely and dealt with them firmly.

Under the able leadership at different levels from the forces, each one contributed in one way or the other in maintaining normalcy and defeated the ill designs of the anti national elements. 'Without caring for their own comfort and celebration of festivals with their families, the Police personnel have remained on fore front of maintaining peace and public order,' he said.

The DGP said that the good work done by the J&K Police and the other forces was being recognised at every forum including by the centre. 'Some grievances of the force like hike in SPOs salary, hardship allowance, pay anomaly etc, have already been redressed,' he said.

However, he said Police Headquarters is working on other requirements of the Police personnel, DGP added. Meanwhile, the DGP yesterday visited central Kashmir district of Ganderbal and Handwara in north Kashmir and reviewed security situation in the area. Mr Singh complimented the officers and Jawans of Police, Army and CAPF for their tireless efforts and dedication in maintaining peace and order in their respective areas.
