Police detain over a dozen in connection with killing in Shopian

Srinagar, Oct 16 (UNI) Over a dozen suspected persons were detained by police in connection with the killing of a driver from Rajasthan by unidentified gunmen in Shopian in south Kashmir on Sunday night, official sources said.

They said a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted immediately after killing of truck driver Sharief Khan, resident of Rajasthan, by unidentified gunmen in Shopian on Monday night.

The SIT launched investigation and detained over a dozen suspected persons. The detained persons are being questioned, they said, adding that Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and Hizbul Mujahieen (HM) militants were involved in the killing. 'Further investigations are going on,' they said.
