Kozhikode/Malappuram, Aug 9 (UNI) With only three persons continuing in critical condition, all the injured in the plane crash that occurred in Calicut International Airport at Kobdotty near here on Friday last, were either recovering or discharged.
As many as 18 people, including the pilot and co-pilot of the Air India Express with 190 people on board, were killed in the aircraft that met with a tragic accident, at around 2000 hrs on August 7.
Out of the 172 injured, 166 were hospitalised in different hospitals. Six of the passengers were not hospitalised, sources informed.
Out of the total 166 injured, as many as 115 were still under treatment at different hospitals in Malappuram and Kozhikode.
Kozhikode District Collector Sreeram Sambasiva Rao said as many as 48 persons have been discharged on Saturday and Sunday.
Out of the injured under treatment in 13 hospitals, including the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, three were in critical care, the Collector informed.
The bodies of 16 passengers, who were killed, have been handed over to their families.
The mortal remains of the pilot and co-pilot were handed over their families and taken to Cochin on Saturday night for onward journey to their respective natives.
