Piyush Goyal urges TRS Govt not to politicize CAA

Piyush Goyal urges TRS Govt not to politicize CAA

Hyderabad, Feb 18 (UNI) Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday urged Telangana Rasthra Samithi (TRS) Government headed by K Chandrashekar Rao not to politicize Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and result in political appeasement.

Speaking to newsmen here, Mr Goyal alleged, unfortunately, Mr Rao indulged in politicizing CAA under pressure from All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) President Asaduddin Owaisi, MP who is indulging in dividing the society in the name of religion.

He said that the CAA is to accord citizenship to those minorities who faced religious persecution in Islamic countries of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh and living as refugees in our country. The CAA was nothing to do with Indian citizens, he added.

“Citizenship Amendment Act is a Law of India and no State Government can pass separate Law opposing it as it was passed by the both Houses of Parliament.
In the federal structure, the states have to implement the Law”, Mr Goyal said and urged Telangana government not to politicize CAA and result in political appeasement.
