Panchayati Raj elections: 36.50 pc polling till noon in Shimla

Shimla, Jan 19(UNI) In the second phase of election for the Panchayati Raj institutions, 36.50 per cent polling was registered till 1200 hrs in the district.
Heavy polling is underway for 1200 gram panchayats, Zila Parishad and Block Samiti members in the state today.
The maximum 44 per cent polling was recorded in Theog block and minimum 29.6 per cent in Rohru block as it was underway.
Reports arriving from Hamirpur said that 18 per cent turn out recorded in first two hours of the voting.
The polling that started on a brisk note was continuing in the same pace with women outnumbering men at almost all the polling stations of the district.
The polling is underway in the 82 gram panchayats of the district through 476 polling stations across the district.
