Non compliance of court order: HC summons HP Secretary Social welfare

Shimla. Dec 5 (UNI) Taking a serious note on the non-compliance of court orders, the High Court on Thursday directed the Principal Secretary of Social Justice & Empowerment of the state to remain present in the court on Dec 17, 2019 and to submit compliance report regarding setting up of old age homes, Day care Centres, Helpline and Counselling centres for welfare of elder or senior citizens in the hill state.
The Court in its order dated November 28 had also directed Principal Secretary, Social Justice & Empowerment, to remain present in the court on the next date of hearing and to furnish the list of senior citizens or old aged persons as well as detail of departments running the census centres within the State and also file written statement by way of affidavit stating therein that what steps are being taken by the Government in favour of those senior citizens or old aged persons pursuant to maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Act, 2007.
During the course of hearing, the Court noticed that the Principal Secretary (Social Justice & Empowerment) to the Government of HP did not appear before the Court and failed to comply the directions issued by the Court.
