Cyber Crime Cell of Goa Police busts Facebook fraud

Panaji, Oct 24 (UNI) Cyber Cell of Goa Police has apprehended one Swapnil Naik for allegedly defrauding one victim of Rs 23 lakh by creating a fake Facebook profile and impersonating as a woman interested in marrying him.
The accused was arrested in Devangere district in Karnataka by a team led by Police Inspector Vishwesh Karpe and Police Sub Inspector Devendra Pingle.
According to police, on October 22, 2020, a case of online fraud was registered at Cyber Crime Police Station upon complaint of Vishnu Gaude, resident of Ponda-Goa that from June 27, 2020, to September 16, 2020, one unknown user of Facebook on the pretext of marrying the complainant fraudulently deceived the complainant to transfer a total amount of Rs 23,21,068.
