Sumalatha keeps Mandya constituents guessing after BJP denies her ticket

By BD Narayankar
Bengaluru, Mar 27 (UNI) The political landscape in Mandya, particularly regarding Sumalatha Ambareesh, has recently come into focus due to various developments. Sumalatha, a former actor who transitioned into politics and won as an independent candidate in 2019, faces a tough situation after the BJP decided not to nominate her for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in Karnataka.
The decision of the BJP might have been influenced by the electoral history of the Mandya Lok Sabha seat, where no candidate has been re-elected since 2009. Additionally, internal factors within the BJP, including the formation of an alliance with the JDS, the party Sumalatha contested against previously, seem to have worked against her candidature.
