Telangana criticises BJP's CAA notification as politically motivated

Hyderabad, Mar 11 (UNI) Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Senior Vice President G Niranjan criticised the BJP Government's notification on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), deeming it politically motivated and aimed at polarising the political atmosphere in anticipation of the upcoming general elections to the Lok Sabha.
In a media statement on Monday, Niranjan pointed out that the CAA was passed in 2019, and its enforcement has been delayed until just before the announcement of the election schedule, indicating the BJP's clear intentions.
Niranjan emphasised that India is a secular country, offering equal opportunities to people of all faiths, and questioned the discriminatory nature of the act. He argued that such discrimination goes against the Preamble of the Constitution, which declares India to be a sovereign socialist secular democratic republic committed to justice, equality, and liberty for the people.
