Vijayapura, Aug 26 (UNI) Karnataka Revenue Minister, R Ashok on Wednesday blamed policies formulated by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh adding that because of the policies, the Centre was unable to provide more funds for flood relief work in the state under NDRF funds.
Speaking to newsmen here he said “The Centre is unable to distribute higher funds to states for undertaking relief works during natural calamities, because of the norms framed by former PM Manmohan Singh’s government,” Ashok said.
On the why the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi did not release Rs. 35,000 crore sought by the State government last year after severe floods.“However, the Union Government did not show any step-motherly treatment to Karnataka by giving the maximum amount that could be given under NDRF for taking up relief projects during calamities”, he claimed.
