K'taka: Opposition leader demands judicial probe into medical equipment purchase scam

Bengaluru, Jul 23 (UNI) Opposition Congress leader in the Karnataka Assembly Siddaramaiah charged here on Thursday that the state government in the name of combating COVID-19 pandemic, had swindled over Rs 2000 crore from the state exchequer.
Addressing a joint press conference here today, the former chief minister had accused that in the last four months, the state government had spent over Rs 4167 crore, and half of it had gone into the pockets of few ministers and officials.
Stating that the BJP government had betrayed the people of the state by concealing the facts over the amount it had spent to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, he said that "It is the bounden duty of any state government to give account for its expenditure and also it is the right of any public to seek it".
