Yediyurappa faces considerable challenge of dissent and maintaining poll prospects

Bengaluru, Mar 26 (UNI) BS Yediyurappa, the veteran BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Karnataka, is facing a significant challenge in managing dissent within the party while also maintaining electoral prospects ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka.
The announcement of candidates for the elections has stirred dissatisfaction among BJP members in various constituencies, leading to unrest within the party.
Yediyurappa has taken steps to address these concerns by reassuring party members that efforts are underway to resolve their grievances. He has emphasized the importance of unity under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and has expressed confidence in winning all 28 seats in Karnataka.
To tackle the issues at hand, Yediyurappa has planned visits to Davangere and Belagavi to meet with party workers and leaders, aiming to resolve any outstanding issues in those regions. However, dissent is evident even within these areas, as seen with opposition to certain candidate nominations.
"We will convene meetings with our party workers and leaders in those areas and work towards resolving any issues. Overall, we believe there are no significant complications," he told reporters here.
In Davangere, there is discontentment over the candidacy of Gayatri Siddeshwar, despite discussions with outgoing MP GM Siddeshwar. Similarly, in Belagavi, dissatisfaction has arisen over the nomination of former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, with local leaders feeling sidelined.
This discontent extends beyond these constituencies to areas like Chikkaballapur, Koppal, Shimoga, Haveri, Tumkur, Bidar, Raichur, and Chitradurga. In Koppal, protests erupted after the denial of the ticket to incumbent MP Karadi Sanganna, eventually leading to the allocation of the ticket to Dr. Basavaraj Kyavator after discussions with Yediyurappa and senior BJP leaders.
