Modi forecasts strifes in Cong, casts shadow on its poll prospects in Karnataka

Modi forecasts strifes in Cong, casts shadow on its poll prospects in Karnataka

Davanagere (Karnataka), April 28 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday raised concerns over the state of affairs within the Karnataka Congress party and its potential impact on electoral outcomes.

Cautioning about its internal strifes among various factions of the Congress, the PM said the rankling could soon escalate into public disputes, with each group blaming the other for potential electoral defeats.
"Now, the day is not far when the internal war going on within different factions of the Congress party will surface on the streets. All the groups will be seen blaming each other for the defeat," he said.
Expressing doubt about the Congress party's electoral prospects, PM Modi asserted that the party's chances of making significant gains in Delhi were slim, citing the overwhelming public support witnessed in Davanagere as a sign that Karnataka voters would hold the Congress accountable for its perceived shortcomings.
"This time, their (Congress) chances of opening an account in Delhi are over. This huge public support in Davanagere shows that the people of Karnataka will punish Congress for its sins," he said.
PM Modi also questioned the feasibility and benefits of the INDI Alliance's proposal to rotate Prime Ministership among its allies over five years. He raised concerns about the potential implications of such a scheme on national governance, questioning whether it would truly serve the country's interests in the long term.
"I have heard that the Indi Alliance has come up with a new formula. In five years, all the allies will be made PM for one year each. That means one PM in one year, a second PM in the second year, a third PM... In such a situation, will the country benefit, will you or your children benefit?" he asked.
Turning his attention to Karnataka's governance, PM Modi contrasted the approaches of the BJP government at the Centre with that of the Congress administration in the state.

He accused the Congress of impeding Karnataka's progress with a perceived lackadaisical work culture while highlighting the BJP's commitment to continuous efforts aimed at achieving a developed India by 2047.
PM Modi also condemned the Congress party's alleged attempts to spread baseless rumours about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), citing a recent rebuke from the Supreme Court. He characterised these actions as detrimental to the democratic fabric of the nation and underscored the importance of upholding the integrity of India's electoral processes.
