COVID death toll rises to 501 in Kerala, new 4,167 +ve cases: Health Minister

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 18 (UNI) Kerala reported 12 deaths due to COVID-19 on Friday taking the death toll to 501, whereas 4,167 people tested positive to the virus, 2,744 patients have recovered from the disease and total 35,724 patients are under treatment, Health Minister KK Shailaja said on Friday.
"Currently, 2,16,262 people are under observation across the state -- 1,91,628 are under home or institutional quarantine and 24,634 in hospitals. So far, 90,089 persons have recovered from the disease. Total 3,282 persons were hospitalised today," the Minister said in a press release.
"Of the newly reported positive cases today, 3,849 people were infected through contact even as the contact source of 410 was not traceable. Total 48 have come back from foreign countries and 165 from other states. Total 102 healthcare workers were also infected by COVID," she said.
