Reformation, rehabilitation of traditional arrack brewers through Parivarthana in East Godavari: SP

Kakinada, Oct 4 (UNI) As a part of the strategy to curb arrack and illicit liquor ,the district police administration in East Godavari district has launched a novel scheme ` Parivarthana ‘ to bring a change among those families depended traditionally upon brewing and selling arrack for their livelihood.
Every effort is being made to bring out a social change among those families and rehabilitate them in some self employment plan or the other disassociating them from the traditional profession explaining them of the serious repercussions including arrests , criminal cases .
Already the novel experiment has started yielding the desired results with many of them leaving the arrack business after intensive counseling by the police personnel during past couple of months said superintendent of police M. Ravindranath Babu during the state level conference over video conferencing conducted by the Andhra Pradesh new Chief Secretary Sameer Sharma with collectors, superintendents of police on Monday .
