Kishan Reddy inaugurates temporary building for SSCTU in Mulugu

Mulugu (Telangana), Mar 8 (UNI) Union Minister, and Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy inaugurated the temporary building of Sammakka Sarakka Central Tribal University (SSCTU) at the Youth Training Center, Jakaram, in this district on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Reddy stated that the SSCTU would be initiated temporarily, and if the state government allocates the land, construction of the permanent university building will commence. Classes are expected to begin for the academic year 2024-25.
He said, the Centre is providing comprehensive assistance in establishing the university, and Hyderabad Central University will serve as the nodal institution for Sammakka Sarakka University, offering various forms of support.
"We will conduct auditions and commence classes. Officials should promptly allot the land, and we will soon conduct the Bhumi Puja. Telangana has a tribal population of 9.8 percent, with only 50 percent literacy among tribals. There is a critical need to increase tribal literacy," Reddy emphasised.
A budget of Rs 24,000 crore has been earmarked for the upliftment of the most backward tribes through the PM Man Dhan scheme.
The Central Government has allocated Rs 900 crore for this tribal university, which will operate under the auspices of the UGC and focus on researching tribal lifestyles.
Highlighting the significance of the region, where people from Maharashtra, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh come for the Medaram fair, Reddy expressed pleasure in establishing a university in the name of Sammakka Sarakka.
He extended special thanks to Prime Minister Modi for his efforts in establishing the university.
Reddy also pledged to work on tourism development, emphasising the pride associated with the UNESCO-recognised Ramappa temple in the area. The temple is being developed for Rs. 63 crore. After the elections, the foundation stone for the university will be laid with Prime Minister Modi.
He urged for the university's development without a confrontational atmosphere, aiming to make the region renowned.
