DRI, ICG seizes 99 kg Hashish drug worth Rs 108 cr being smuggled to Lanka, 4 held

Chennai, Mar 5 (UNI) In its continuous hunt against smuggling of narcotics substances, Officers of DRI Chennai Zonal Unit and Indian Coast Guard on Tuesday seized 99 kgs of Hashish drug worth Rs 108 crore and meant for smuggling to Sri Lanka via the coastal route near Mandapam in Rameswaram in Ramanathapuram district of Tamil Nadu.
The seizure was made from a boat in high seas in a joint operation by the DRI and the Indian Coast Guard.
An official release here said acting specific inputs that a gang was planning to smuggle narcotics substances from India to Sri Lanka via coastal route near Mandapam sea coast.
