Bengaluru, Sep 1(UNI) The Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru completed 100 days of successful operations on Tuesday since the resumption of domestic air travel in India.
The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) permitted domestic operations from May 25 after two months of Covid-induced lockdown. In 100 days, Bengaluru international airport welcomed 1.4 million domestic passengers with 15,658 air traffic movements (ATM) according to statement issued here on Tuesday .
As compared to July, there was 39% growth in ATMs and over 47% growth in passenger traffic in August, indicating a positive trend with successive measures to unlock India’s economy, the airport operator Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) said in a press release. With the relaxation of state regulations and addition of capacity by airlines, the numbers are expected to increase in the coming days and months, it added.
