Mafia was medium of livelihood for leaders of previous governments: Yogi

Mafia was medium of livelihood for leaders of previous governments: Yogi

Ambedkar Nagar (UP) March 14 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday launched a scathing attack on the Samajwadi Party (SP) and said that the leaders in the previous governments nurtured mafias to make a fast buck.
Inaugurating and laying the foundation stone of 4,977 development projects worth Rs 2,122 crore at the Civil Line Ground, Ambedkar Nagar, the Chief Minister said, "Before 2017, mafias used to capture land in Ambedkar Nagar, but today no mafia can seize land or harass girls because they know that Yamraj (God of Death) has laid a trap for them at the next intersection."
Yogi was supported vociferously by the people on the actions taken by his government against dreaded mafias and gangsters in the state. Stressing the role of the double-engine government in curing mafias in Uttar Pradesh, he asserted that his government would never tolerate those snatching the right to live off the poor and the underprivileged.
He inspected the exhibition organised at the event venue and inaugurated two private industrial development projects here.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the construction of Ram Temple was unimaginable in Ayodhya during the SP government. "These people wanted to change the name of your district too. They even removed the name of Kannauj Medical College named after Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, but we have decided to restore it. Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar was the architect of the Constitution and there could be no compromise on the name of the college," he said.
He said, "SP is anti-Dalit. This is the same SP that caused the Guest House scandal and called for the removal of memorials built in the name of great Dalit leaders, but the double-engine government built Panch Teerth in the name of Baba Saheb. Our government has provided housing to 4 crore people. We provided houses for both the poor and devotees and also got the Ram Temple built in Ayodhya," he said.
Yogi said that here, people have been given the benefit of housing, tablets, appointment letters, and other development schemes among others. "If there was no double-engine government, 56 lakh poor people in Uttar [radesesh would not have been able to get houses," he said.
He said the people of SP and Congress were unable to provide these benefits as there was a war ongoing between 'chacha and bhatija'.He said that as soon as they got elected, the family's extortion business would start while people were denied the benefits of public welfare schemes. "But today, every needy person is getting the benefits of poor welfare schemes without any discrimination."
The Chief Minister remarked that when the government prioritises public welfare, initiatives like these materialise. "Conversely, when individuals in power solely concentrate on their family interests rather than the public's, corruption taints welfare schemes aimed at the impoverished," he said.
He pointed out that before 2014 nationwide, and before 2017 in Uttar Pradesh specifically, the government neglected the needs of the poor, focusing solely on personal and familial gains. "Prime Minister Modi emphasizes that the 1.4 billion people of India are my family. The public is my family; we are committed to ensuring their security and prosperity," he said.
Yogi said certificates were issued to two entrepreneurs of Ambedkar Nagar for setting up industries. "Ambedkar Nagar received investment proposals worth over Rs 6,000 crores. This means that direct and indirect employment will be available to 10,000 people here. The amount of development work done has never happened before," he said.
He said, "In the last ten years, the central government and for the past seven years, the state government, both are working together, hence investment is coming, development is taking place, employment is being provided, and the poor are getting the benefits of welfare schemes. Efforts are being made to increase the pace of development manifold."
Describing Ambedkar Nagar as a neighboring district, the Chef Minister said that the Gorakhpur Link Expressway is passing through Ambedkar Nagar. "As developed Uttar Pradesh is necessary for developed India, developed Ambedkar Nagar is necessary for developed Uttar Pradesh, and the double-engine government is necessary for developed Ambedkar Nagar. The Goddess Lakshmi always sits on the lotus. Her blessings are necessary for the Modi government," he said.
He said the foundation stone of Nursing College has also been laid in Ambedkar Nagar Medical College. "This will provide facilities for further education to girls here in courses like BSc and MSc Nursing," he said.
