Agnipath stir turns ugly in UP, 260 held so far

Lucknow, June 17 (UNI) As the protests against the Union government's newly-launched Agnipath scheme turned violent in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, with the agitated youth torching trains, railway station, buses and toll booth, police arrested 260 people for causing damage to public property and other charges under relevant sections of law.
The agitators further indulged in widespread arson, vandalism and stone-pelting, besides blocking several National Highways.
In a bid to disperse the mob, police used force, cane charged the protestors and fired tear gas shells at some places.

HP: Rs 1300 cr to be spent under Shiva Project to help ryots

Shahpur, Oct 2 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi on Monday said said Rs 1300 crore will be spent under Shiva project
Negi said the state government has increased the amount given to the owners of houses completely damaged during the disaster from Rs 1 lakh 30 thousand to Rs 7 lakh, this will benefit three thousand people of the state. An assistance amount of Rs 1 lakh will be given to the owners of partially affected houses, this will benefit 13000 affected people. An amount of Rs 50,000 will be provided on the death of a cow during a disaster.
