Lucknow, June 9 (UNI) Eight candidates of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, filed their nomination for the biennial elections for 13 seats of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council on Thursday.
Nomination of one more candidate Narendra Kashyap was filed by their proposers as he is suffering from Covid.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Deputy CM Brijesh Pathak, BJP state president and Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh and Finance Minister Suresh Khanna were present on the occasion. Notably, Thursday was the last day for filing nominations for the council polls, polling for which is scheduled to be held on June 20.
