UP govt to expand scope of development authorities

Lucknow, July 23 (UNI) To curb the problems of unplanned development and ensure improved urban services, the State government is gearing up for widening the scope of development authorities in Uttar Pradesh in a phased manner.
In the first phase, preparations are being made to expand the boundaries of more than 6 development authorities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Prayagraj among others. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, an action plan is being prepared in this regard.
It may be mentioned that the Yogi government has been grappling with the issue of lack of civic amenities in unplanned colonies in the cities since long. There is a total lack of proper sewerage, waste management and drinking water facilities while maintenance of roads is very poor in these colonies. The colonies are also faced with encroachments.
