UP: Acid thrown on couple, 3 arrested, 2 cops suspended

Pilibhit (UP), May 9 (UNI) Acid was thrown on a couple after they refused to compromise in a case wherein their daughter was teased by a youth in Gajraula area of the district.
Superintendent of Police Dinesh Prabhu on Monday said that on May 6 the victim's father had lodged a complaint against one Rajesh for allegedly teasing and assaulting her daughter. "Rajesh was absconding after the incident and the girl's statement was to be recorded in the court on Monday," he said.
It is being alleged that on Sunday night while the victim, her brothers and grand-daughter were in the room, her parents were sleeping in the verandah. "Five accused entered the house of the victim sometime during the night and poured acid on them," the SP said.
