Srinagar, Sep 24 (UNI) Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday strongly condemned the killing of Block Development Council (BDC) chairman Bhupinder Singh by unidentified gunmen in the central Kashmir district of Badgam Wednesday night.
Hours after Administration Council (AC), which met under the chairmanship of Lt Gov Sinha, approved to hold elections to 1,089 Sarpanch and 12,168 Panch positions in Jammu and Kashmir, gunmen shot dead Singh, BDC of Khag, near his house in Badgam last night. He had left his two Special Police Officers (PSOs) guard in a police station and left for his home alone.
Meanwhile, former chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari have also condemned the killing of Singh and termed it highly unfortunate.
