Those who tease innocent won't be spared: Yogi

Meerut (UP), April 10 (UNI) Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday issued a stern warning to criminals stressing that the guilty will not get even a place for their last rites if innocent people are harmed.
Launching a scathing attack on the opposition at an election rally in Meerut to seek votes for Muzaffarnagar candidate Sanjeev Balyan, the CM said that those attempting to mislead the people today had put Sangeet Som and Sanjeev Baliyan behind bars and imposed curfews to add to their suffering.
He urged the community to maintain the current peace in western UP and prevent any resurgence of violence. Highlighting the importance of effective leadership, he drew a sharp contrast between India's progress and Pakistan's struggles, attributing Pakistan's plight to poor governance.
Yogi rallied support for Sanjeev Balyan, the Muzaffarnagar Lok Sabha seat candidate, emphasising the region's remarkable infrastructural developments. "With the inauguration of a 12-lane expressway connecting Meerut to Delhi and the introduction of rapid rail services, Meerut has become a hub of connectivity and progress," he said.
He announced setting up UP's first sports university, honouring the legacy of hockey wizard Major Dhyanchand.
The CM underscored the noticeable changes occurring in western UP. Referring to the injustices faced by the region's youth under the prior regime, he vowed not to pardon those responsible.
Drawing inspiration from the valorous life of Maharana Pratap, he emphasised resilience in the face of adversity. He cautioned against allowing individuals who had previously compromised the dignity of women and imposed curfews to regain power.
Yogi warned against falling prey to their manipulative tactics, asserting that such opportunists would inevitably sow chaos and disorder. Emphasising the spirit of bravery inherent in Sardhana, he cautioned against the deceptive tactics of caste-based politics, which have historically undermined the nation's integrity and religious values.
During the event, he reiterated a stern warning to wrongdoers, emphasizing that no individual can evade the stringent security measures in place regardless of their status. He highlighted the downfall of prominent mafia and terrorists, previously shielded by authorities, whose current predicaments are widely known.
The CM recalled 'the mafia reign' during the SP regime, where even top officials hesitated to confront them. "However, under the present administration, such impunity has been shattered, with wrongdoers facing the full force of the law," he said.
