Lucknow, Apr 8 (UNI) Former Director General of Police of Uttar Pradesh Police Vijay Kumar along with leaders of various political parties joined Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday.
Kumar took membership in the BJP along with his wife Anupama before Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak at the party's state office.
Later, while talking to journalists, he said that he had performed his duty honestly in the role of IPS. He is deeply impressed by the policies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, especially during their tenure, the law and order situation in the state has improved and this is the reason why he wants to serve the society as a politician.
Along with Kumar, senior leaders of the Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), and Congress also joined the BJP.
Those who took membership included former BSP MLC Manoj Agarwal, BSP Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Vatsala Agarwal, Nagar Panchayat President Neeraj Singh Sengar, Nagar Panchayat President Mithlesh Kumar Mishra (Sultanpur), Congress national Secretary Yogendra Singh Tomar, former state Secretary of SP Ambuj Shukla (Kanpur), former BSP Assembly candidate Sachin Tripathi, and former BSP Assembly candidate Sandeep Sharma.
Speaking on the occasion Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak welcomed all the people joining the BJP family and said that they should do their part in strengthening the BJP by visiting their respective areas and booths.
He said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is moving forward with the resolve of a developed India with the economic and social development of villages, poor, and farmers. "Let us all move ahead by joining this resolve and participate in forming a strong government for the third time under the leadership of Modi by winning all 80 seats of the Lok Sabha," he said.
