Navjot Sidhu not ultimate choice of Congress leadership as Punjab CM, cancels CLP meeting to elect new CLP leader

Chandigarh, Sep 19 (UNI) Punjab Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting scheduled to be held for the second consecutive day on Sunday to elect a new leader of the CLP has been deferred till further instructions from the party leadership.
The decision to this effect has been said to be taken by Congress Acting President Sonia Gandhi after Ms Ambika Soni, a senior party functionary and former Union Minister, refused her offer to head the state government in Punjab.
Ms Ambika Soni is said to have humbly declined the offer on health grounds whereas the party insiders opined that she had declined the offer to keep her away from the party affairs which are in the utter mess currently
